This bill mandates the Secretary of the Interior to take approximately 265 acres of federal land in California into trust for the benefit of the Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians. Specifically, it revokes Public Land Order 3309 and transfers jurisdiction over the affected land to the Secretary. The land designated for transfer includes roughly 80 acres of Bureau of Land Management land and 185 acres known as Indian Creek Ranch. Within 180 days of enactment, the Secretary must complete this trust transfer, subject to existing valid rights. Before the transfer, the Secretary is required to review the land and conduct a survey if deemed necessary, with provisions for minor corrections to the legal description. Once taken into trust, this land will be declared part of the Tribe's existing Reservation and administered according to federal laws and regulations applicable to property held in trust by the United States for Indian Tribes. A significant provision of the bill explicitly prohibits the use of any land taken into trust under this Act for Class II or Class III gaming activities . This restriction ensures that while the land becomes part of the tribal reservation, it cannot be developed for casino-style gaming as defined by the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act.
