This bill amends the Food, Agriculture, Conservation, and Trade Act of 1990 to establish a new grant program. The Secretary of Agriculture, acting through the Director of the National Institute of Food and Agriculture, is authorized to award these grants to eligible institutions . The primary purpose of these grants is to develop and implement agriculture workforce training programs designed to promote industry growth, foster competitiveness, and enhance the training and retention of workers in the agriculture sector. An agriculture workforce training program is defined as a program developed by an eligible institution in collaboration with a targeted industry partner , offering training through internships, apprenticeships, and experience-based curricula. Eligible institutions include various land-grant universities, community colleges, and career and technical education schools that offer agricultural programs. Targeted industry partners can be agriculture companies, industry associations, registered apprenticeship programs, or non-profit organizations focused on agricultural employment. Grant recipients are required to allocate at least 5 percent of the funds towards preliminary recruitment measures and professional development for faculty to prepare students for agricultural careers.
