The Food Eligibility for Education and Development Act of 2025, or FEED Act, aims to modify the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008. Its primary purpose is to exclude certain student income when determining eligibility for food assistance programs, thereby potentially increasing access for specific student populations. Specifically, the bill allows for the exclusion of income earned by household members under the age of 21 who are actively participating in a career and technical education program. This exclusion applies if the student lives with a parent or is under the parental control of another household member, and the income is derived from an apprenticeship, internship, or work-based learning program that is a component of their CTE. The Secretary is mandated to establish procedures to verify these requirements, including documentation of enrollment in career and technical education and confirmation of the student's age and household relationship.
