This bill grants the Secretary of Homeland Security the authority to temporarily extend protections for qualified anti-terrorism technologies under the Support Anti-Terrorism by Fostering Effective Technologies Act of 2002 (SAFETY Act) . This temporary extension power is available through fiscal year 2029 , allowing companies to maintain protections while their renewal applications are processed. To be eligible for such an extension, a complete renewal application must have been submitted at least 165 days before the original protections were set to expire. Importantly, a temporary extension does not influence or limit the Secretary's final decision to approve or deny the full renewal of these anti-terrorism protections.
