Provider Training in Palliative Care Act

This bill amends the Public Health Service Act to enable participants in the National Health Service Corps (NHSC) Scholarship and Loan Repayment Programs to postpone their service obligations. The primary purpose is to facilitate specialized training for healthcare providers, thereby enhancing the availability of professionals with expertise in palliative care. Specifically, the Secretary of Health and Human Services is authorized to issue deferrals of up to one year for individuals who apply to receive training in palliative care services . This provision allows NHSC participants to gain critical skills in an important medical field before fulfilling their service commitments, supporting the development of a workforce capable of providing comprehensive end-of-life and serious illness care.
