This bill aims to broaden the eligibility for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program to include certain adjunct faculty members. It proposes amendments to Section 455(m) of the Higher Education Act of 1965 to establish clear criteria for these educators. Under the proposed changes, adjunct or contingent faculty, teachers, or lecturers in non-tenured track positions at various educational institutions would qualify. To be eligible, they must meet specific teaching hour requirements, such as teaching at least 9 credit hours per semester , 6 credit hours per trimester , or 18 credit hours per calendar year . Alternatively, they could qualify by teaching a total of 30 hours per week , calculated based on credit or contact hours. A crucial condition is that these adjunct faculty members must not be employed full-time by any other employer to receive loan forgiveness.
