Sustainable Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Services in the Home Act

This legislation, titled the "Sustainable Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Services in the Home Act," aims to permanently extend certain flexibilities for cardiopulmonary rehabilitation services under Medicare. It amends Title XVIII of the Social Security Act to allow cardiac, intensive cardiac, and pulmonary rehabilitation services to be furnished in an individual's home through audio-visual real-time telehealth communications technology . A key provision allows an individual's home to be designated as a provider-based location of a hospital outpatient department for these specific rehabilitation programs. The bill also expands the definition of originating sites for telehealth services and removes geographic restrictions for these rehabilitation programs when delivered via telehealth, effective for services furnished on or after January 1, 2026. Furthermore, the Secretary of Health and Human Services is directed to establish standards for this home designation and to officially include these rehabilitation programs among specified telehealth services.
