The "Strengthening Prosecution Integrity for Espionage Statutes Act," or SPIES Act , aims to remove time limitations for prosecuting specific national security offenses. This legislation amends Title 18 of the U.S. Code to ensure that indictments or information for these crimes can be brought at any time, without a statute of limitations. Specifically, the bill eliminates the period of limitations for violations of section 951 , concerning agents of foreign governments, and section 794 , which addresses gathering or delivering defense information to aid a foreign government, including conspiracies related to these offenses. It also applies this unlimited prosecution period to violations of section 1425 , pertaining to unlawful procurement of citizenship or naturalization, but only when such an offense was committed to facilitate a violation of section 951.
