MEDAL Act of 2025

This proposed legislation, titled the Monetary Enhancement for Distinguished Active Legends Act of 2025 (MEDAL Act of 2025), aims to substantially increase the special monthly pension for living recipients of the Medal of Honor. The bill acknowledges the Medal of Honor as the highest and most prestigious military decoration, recognizing recipients for their exceptional gallantry and actions beyond the call of duty. Congress finds that these individuals exemplify the best traits of Armed Forces members and deserve a significant increase in their special pension. Specifically, the bill amends section 1562(a)(1) of title 38, United States Code, to raise the monthly pension for living Medal of Honor recipients from $1,406.73 to $8,333.33 . Additionally, it clarifies that surviving spouses of recipients will continue to receive a special monthly pension at the rate of $1,406.73, subject to periodic adjustments, thereby providing enhanced financial recognition for these distinguished heroes.
