CHIP IN for Veterans Act of 2025

This legislation, titled the "CHIP IN for Veterans Act of 2025," extends and expands a pilot program that enables the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to accept donations. Specifically, it extends the authorization for the pilot program, originally established by the Communities Helping Invest through Property and Improvements Needed for Veterans Act of 2016, from its current expiration date of December 16, 2026, to December 16, 2031 . This extension provides additional time for communities to support VA facilities through philanthropic efforts. Beyond the extension, the bill significantly expands the types of donations the VA can accept under the pilot program. Previously focused on real property and improvements, the program will now also include donations for "a minor construction or nonrecurring maintenance project of the Department." Conforming amendments throughout the original act update terminology to reflect this broader scope, ensuring that the VA can accept a wider range of donated resources to meet its infrastructure and maintenance needs.
