LIP Enhancement Act of 2025

The Livestock Indemnity Program Enhancement Act of 2025 aims to expand the existing Livestock Indemnity Program (LIP) by introducing new provisions for unborn livestock death losses . This legislation mandates the Secretary of Agriculture to provide additional financial assistance to eligible producers who experience such losses due to specified conditions, provided these losses exceed normal mortality rates. These additional payments will cover losses incurred on or after January 1, 2024 . The payment rate will be determined by the Secretary, but it cannot exceed 85 percent of the payment rate established for the lowest weight class of birthed livestock. The final payment amount will be calculated by multiplying this rate by specific factors that vary depending on the type of livestock affected.
