This bill, titled the "Defense Workforce Integration Act of 2025," seeks to enhance defense workforce integration by establishing new pathways for individuals unable to serve in uniform. It mandates the Secretary of Defense to create a pathway for medically disqualified entry-level service members to transition into qualified civilian positions within the Department of Defense or its components. This includes individuals currently attending or ordered to attend basic training, technical schools, service academies, ROTC, or officer accession programs, with the Air Force's existing DRIVE program serving as a sufficient model. Furthermore, the legislation requires the Secretary of Defense to establish a program providing individuals medically ineligible for military service with information on employment opportunities within the defense industrial base . This program will inform and refer individuals to jobs, apprenticeships, and training in critical areas such as cybersecurity, intelligence support, defense technology research and development, and national emergency preparedness. Additionally, the Secretary of the Navy must provide all Navy personnel with information on career opportunities at Military Sealift Command and related workforce training programs as part of the Transition Assistance Program, with a comprehensive implementation report due within one year.
