COAST Anti-Drilling Act of 2025

This bill proposes to permanently prohibit offshore drilling for oil, natural gas, and other minerals across significant portions of the Outer Continental Shelf. It achieves this by amending the Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act , specifically adding a new subsection that prevents the Secretary from issuing any leases or authorizations for such activities. The prohibition applies to four distinct planning areas: the North Atlantic , Mid-Atlantic , South Atlantic , and Straits of Florida . These areas are precisely defined according to the 2024-2029 National Outer Continental Shelf Oil and Gas Leasing Proposed Final Program. The legislation's core purpose is to establish a lasting ban on new offshore energy development in these sensitive marine environments.
