Trade Adjustment Assistance Reauthorization Act of 2025

This legislation, titled the "Trade Adjustment Assistance Reauthorization Act of 2025," aims to reauthorize and extend the Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) program, which provides support to workers and firms negatively impacted by international trade. The Act extends the program's termination date and funding authorizations from June 30, 2021, to December 31, 2031 , ensuring the continued availability of these critical benefits. It specifically renews authorizations for training funds, reemployment assistance, and appropriations for TAA for workers, firms, and farmers. A significant aspect of the Act addresses the period when the TAA program had lapsed, specifically for petitions filed between July 1, 2021, and the bill's enactment date. For workers, the Secretary of Labor must now make or reconsider certification determinations using the reauthorized program's criteria, with eligible workers receiving benefits under these new provisions. Similarly, the Secretary of Commerce must apply the reauthorized criteria for firms whose petitions were filed or denied during this lapse. Furthermore, the bill allows firms that would have been eligible for TAA during the lapse period to file new petitions within 90 days of the Act's enactment and be certified under the renewed program. Workers certified under petitions filed before July 1, 2021, will continue to receive benefits under the provisions in effect at that time.
