The Connected Maternal Online Monitoring Act, or Connected MOM Act, seeks to improve maternal and child health outcomes for pregnant and postpartum women enrolled in State Medicaid programs. To achieve this, the bill mandates the Secretary of Health and Human Services to conduct a comprehensive study on the coverage of remote physiologic monitoring devices , such as blood pressure cuffs and pulse oximeters, under State Medicaid. Within 18 months of enactment, the Secretary must submit a report to Congress detailing current State practices, identifying limitations and barriers to coverage, and assessing their impact on maternal health. This report will also include specific recommendations on how to address these identified barriers to improve access to these crucial monitoring tools. Subsequently, within six months of the report's submission, the Secretary is required to update State Medicaid resources, including telehealth toolkits, to align with the recommendations provided in the report.
