This bill proposes to amend the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act by expanding the eligibility for certain federal funds. Its primary purpose is to authorize the Secretary to use available funds for additional projects related to the Carey Act . Specifically, the amendment allows for the rehabilitation, reconstruction, or replacement of dams originally developed under the Carey Act. These funds would come from amounts made available under section 40901(2)(B) of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. However, this additional funding is subject to two critical determinations by the Secretary. First, all other dams meeting existing criteria must have already received the necessary funding for their rehabilitation, reconstruction, or replacement activities. Second, the Secretary must determine that funds from the specified section of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act remain available after those prior commitments.
