Cormorant Relief Act of 2025

This legislation, titled the "Cormorant Relief Act of 2025," mandates the Secretary of the Interior to reissue a specific depredation order concerning double-crested cormorants. This order, which allows for the taking of these birds at aquaculture facilities, must be reissued within one year of the bill's enactment. The reissued depredation order must be identical to the original order from January 1, 2016, but with two significant expansions. It will apply to an additional twelve states, including California, Illinois, and Ohio, broadening its geographic reach. Furthermore, the order will extend its applicability to lake managers and pond managers , who are licensed by State regulatory agencies to manage private lakes and ponds, in addition to the entities previously covered.
