This legislation mandates that the TRICARE Prime and TRICARE Select programs provide comprehensive fertility-related care for active duty members of the uniformed services and their dependents. This coverage includes the diagnosis of infertility and a wide range of fertility treatments, such as in vitro fertilization, sperm and egg retrieval, preservation of genetic material, and artificial insemination. For in vitro fertilization, the bill specifies coverage for up to three completed oocyte retrievals and an unlimited number of embryo transfers, adhering to American Society for Reproductive Medicine guidelines. It also establishes a program for the coordination of fertility-related care , ensuring timely access and providing training and support to community healthcare providers regarding the unique needs of military families. These new provisions are scheduled to apply to services rendered on or after October 1, 2027.
