Portable Ultrasound Reimbursement Equity Act of 2025

This bill seeks to expand Medicare coverage to include portable ultrasound transportation and set up services by amending the Social Security Act. It redefines covered medical services to encompass diagnostic X-ray and ultrasound tests, ensuring these portable services are recognized under the program. A central provision mandates the Secretary to establish a separate payment for portable ultrasound transportation and set up services, consistent with the payment structure for portable X-ray services. Additionally, the Secretary must specify requirements for suppliers of these services, aligning them with existing regulations for portable X-ray service providers. These amendments will apply to services furnished on or after January 1, 2027 .
