LEDGER Act

This legislation mandates the Secretary of the Treasury to establish a comprehensive system for tracking all federal government expenditures. Within 180 days of the bill's enactment, this system must be implemented to ensure greater transparency and accountability in how public funds are utilized. The new system will meticulously track all outlays from every appropriation, receipt, or other fund account held within the Treasury. This requirement extends to all departments, agencies, and offices across the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of the United States Government. Furthermore, the system will specifically monitor disbursements subject to existing requirements and, crucially, track the period of availability for the amounts in each applicable fund account, providing a complete financial lifecycle view.
