This resolution expresses the House of Representatives' profound sorrow regarding the death of Alexander Michel Odeh , who was a dedicated peace activist and advocate for civil liberties for Arab-Americans and human rights worldwide. Odeh was tragically killed by a pipe bomb in 1985 while serving as the Southern California Regional Director of the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, an act of domestic terrorism for which those responsible have yet to be brought to justice. The House formally acknowledges his death as a victim of domestic terrorism and extends its deep sympathy to his family and the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee. As a further mark of respect to his memory, the House of Representatives will adjourn on the day this resolution is passed, and a copy will be transmitted to his family.
