On August 6, 2025, a sudden and unprovoked attack by a gunman occurred at Fort Stewart, Georgia, with the intent to cause harm and fear. During this incident, six courageous soldiers acted decisively and without hesitation to subdue the assailant, thereby preventing any loss of life and allowing medical personnel to administer timely aid to the wounded. The resolution specifically recognizes and honors First Sgt. Joshua Arnold, Master Sgt. Justin Thomas, Staff Sgt. Melissa Taylor, Staff Sgt. Robert Pacheco, Sgt. Aaron Turner, and Sgt. Eve Rodarte for their bravery. Their swift, selfless actions saved countless lives and exemplified the highest ideals of military service by going above and beyond their call of duty. The House of Representatives extends its heartfelt wishes for a full and speedy recovery to all individuals who were injured in the attack.
