Supporting the goals and ideals of Alzheimer's and Brain Awareness Month.

This resolution acknowledges the significant impact of Alzheimer's disease, which is the seventh leading cause of death in the United States and affects nearly 7 million Americans, a number projected to rise significantly by 2050. It highlights the substantial direct costs of care, estimated at $384 billion in 2025, and notes that Alzheimer's is the only top-10 cause of death without a prevention or cure. The resolution further notes that women comprise almost two-thirds of those living with Alzheimer's, and emphasizes the disproportionate risk faced by older Black and Latino Americans, as well as underdetection risks for Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders. It also addresses the immense emotional and financial burden on over 11 million unpaid caregivers, many of whom experience high stress and depression. Ultimately, the House of Representatives expresses its support for the goals and ideals of Alzheimer's and Brain Awareness Month .
