The resolution specifically congratulates Pilot Victor Glover, Commander Reid Wiseman, Mission Specialist Christina Koch, and Mission Specialist Jeremy Hansen for their groundbreaking achievements, including being the first Black astronaut, first woman, and first non-American to travel to the Moon's vicinity, respectively. The mission, launched on April 1, 2026, from Kennedy Space Center, traveled 252,756 miles from Earth, setting a new record for the farthest distance humans have ventured. Upon its successful splashdown on April 10, 2026, the mission opened doors for future lunar surface landings.
