Honoring the lives and service of Emily Barker, Nick Hutcherson, Sydney Watson, Nicholas Dale, and all those who serve on the front lines of America's wildland firefighting efforts.

This resolution honors the lives and ultimate sacrifice of four individuals— Emily Barker , Nick Hutcherson , Sydney Watson , and Nicholas Dale —who died in the line of duty during the demanding 2026 wildfire season. It acknowledges the extraordinary demands placed on wildland firefighters, aviation crews, and support personnel, particularly highlighting the dangers faced by the Rifle Helitack crew and a firefighting pilot. The House of Representatives expresses its deepest sympathies to the families and colleagues of the fallen and injured, while also extending the gratitude of the American people to all wildland firefighting and emergency response personnel. Furthermore, it recognizes that protecting communities from catastrophic wildfires requires both responsible stewardship of forests and public lands and sustained support for those who risk their lives to protect communities and natural resources.
