Expressing support for the designation of July 10th as Journeyman Lineworkers Recognition Day.

This resolution expresses strong support for the designation of July 10th as Journeyman Lineworkers Recognition Day . It aims to formally acknowledge the critical and often perilous work performed by these essential professionals across the nation. The measure highlights that journeyman lineworkers provide vital services daily, frequently putting their lives at risk to ensure safe and reliable power for American communities. Their heroic efforts are particularly evident during major national and regional disasters, such as hurricanes, wildfires, and pandemics, where they work long hours under dangerous conditions to restore electricity. The chosen date, July 10th, commemorates Henry Miller , the first elected president of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, who tragically died on this day in 1896 from injuries sustained while troubleshooting an electrical outage. The resolution emphasizes the need for a day to honor these industry first responders who have made the ultimate sacrifice and those who continue to provide skillful service during crises. Ultimately, the House of Representatives supports this designation, honors the countless individuals who place themselves in harm's way for their communities, and encourages the public to observe Journeyman Lineworkers Recognition Day with appropriate reflection on their invaluable contributions.
