HEALTH Act

This resolution proposes to amend the Rules of the House of Representatives by establishing a new standing committee named the Committee on Health . This committee would be responsible for critical areas including biomedical research and development , with oversight of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Its jurisdiction would also encompass health, health facilities, and healthcare supported by general revenues, excluding veterans' medical care. Additionally, it would oversee public health and quarantine matters, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). To accommodate this new body, the resolution mandates conforming amendments to the jurisdictions of existing committees, specifically adjusting the responsibilities of the Committees on Education and the Workforce and Energy and Commerce by removing their health-related duties.
