This bill requires the Secretary of Education to issue comprehensive guidance on seizure safety for elementary and secondary schools. This guidance, developed in cooperation with the Secretary of Health and Human Services within six months of enactment, aims to promote a safe environment and ensure proper care for students with epilepsy or other seizure disorders. The guidance specifically addresses how schools can provide necessary services and accommodations, including utilizing either a Section 504 plan under the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 or an individualized education program (IEP) as outlined in the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. The Secretary of Education also retains the authority to update this guidance as deemed necessary to maintain its effectiveness.
