This bill mandates that schools participating in the National School Lunch Program or School Breakfast Program publicly disclose comprehensive information about their menu items. This information must be made available on the school or district website at least seven days before the meal is served. The required details for each menu item or food include: the name of the item a list of each ingredient used the manufacturer or producer the location where it was manufactured or produced and whether it is locally sourced or produced on a family farm . Schools are also required to promptly update this information if any menu item changes. The Secretary of Agriculture is directed to issue regulations within 180 days to help schools comply with these new requirements. The provisions of this Act will apply to meals served starting from the school year that begins at least 18 months after the bill's enactment, aiming to enhance transparency for parents and students regarding school meal contents.
