House Our Heroes Act

This bill grants the Secretary of Veterans Affairs new authorities to assist veterans with delinquent or foreclosed home loans guaranteed under chapter 37 of title 38, United States Code. It authorizes the Secretary to offer an educational course to these veterans, which would include information on improving credit scores, managing finances, and understanding available loss mitigation options.

Additionally, the bill provides a limited expansion of the partial claim program for a specific period. For loans that default due to a missed payment between May 1, 2025, and November 28, 2026, the Secretary may make a partial claim and consent to loan modifications, such as changes to interest rates or payment terms. This provision allows these actions to be taken without adhering to the usual mandatory sequence of steps, offering greater flexibility to address these specific defaults.
