Stop Support for UNRWA Act of 2026

This bill, titled the "Stop Support for United Nations Relief and Works Agency Act of 2026," aims to prohibit the United States from providing any voluntary or assessed contributions to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA). This legislative action would effectively end direct financial support from the U.S. government to UNRWA operations.

The legislation includes a crucial rule of construction, clarifying that it does not preclude the provision of humanitarian assistance to individuals or entities currently aided by UNRWA. However, such aid must be delivered exclusively through agencies or entities other than UNRWA itself. This alternative assistance is contingent upon the Secretary of State certifying to Congress that these alternative agencies do not promote violence, terrorism, or antisemitism, nor employ individuals who engage in such activities, as defined by the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance.
