Ethical Investigations and Integrity Act

This bill mandates that the Secretary of Labor establish formal procedures when providing "adverse assistance" to individuals for potential civil actions. Before offering such assistance, which includes sharing information or advice with an attorney, the Secretary must enter into a written agreement with the individual. This agreement must clearly outline the nature and scope of the assistance, and a copy must be provided to any employer or contractor who may be directly and adversely impacted by it. Furthermore, the legislation requires the Secretary to submit annual reports to Congress detailing all such agreements in effect during the preceding fiscal year. These reports must include a copy of each agreement, its effective date, and a comprehensive description of the assistance provided, including information shared and logs of communications and meetings. The bill defines "adverse assistance" as aid directed towards an attorney for use in a civil action under laws enforced by the Wage and Hour Division.
