Protection Against Mass Surveillance Act

This bill establishes a comprehensive prohibition on federal agencies regarding the use of automated surveillance systems designed to identify, track, or record individuals. It explicitly forbids the purchase, deployment, operation, access, or contracting for systems such as automated license plate recognition , facial recognition technology , and other biometric identification methods like fingerprint or iris scans. The prohibition also extends to any technology that captures, analyzes, or retains personally identifiable information for the purpose of conducting persistent or mass surveillance. Furthermore, the legislation restricts state, local, and tribal governments from utilizing Federal funds to acquire or operate these same types of automated surveillance systems. To ensure compliance, any data obtained by a Federal agency in violation of these prohibitions must be deleted within 30 days and is explicitly deemed inadmissible as evidence in any court or administrative proceeding.
