This bill amends title 18, United States Code, to strengthen conflict of interest rules within the federal judiciary. Specifically, it modifies section 208(a) to explicitly include officers and employees of the judicial branch, including federal judges and justices of the Supreme Court , under the prohibition against participating in official matters where they have a personal financial interest. Furthermore, the bill amends section 208(b) to introduce a new exception. This exception allows the Judicial Conference of the United States to issue regulations, following public notice and comment, to exempt financial interests deemed too remote or too inconsequential to affect the integrity of judicial services.
