No GRIFT Act of 2026

This bill introduces new restrictions on nonprofit organizations receiving grants from the Department of Justice (DOJ). It specifies that a nonprofit becomes ineligible for DOJ grants if, in the prior taxable year, more than 50 percent of its revenue originated from DOJ grants and it compensated an officer or employee in an amount exceeding the annual salary of the Attorney General. To ensure compliance, nonprofits applying for grants must submit a certification to the Attorney General confirming their eligibility. This measure aims to prevent organizations heavily funded by the DOJ from providing excessive compensation to their leadership.
