Examining Opioid Treatment Infrastructure Act of 2026

This legislation mandates the Comptroller General of the United States to conduct a thorough evaluation of the country's infrastructure for treating opioid-use disorders. The study will specifically examine the inpatient and outpatient treatment capacity, availability, and needs across the United States, with a report due to Congress within 24 months of enactment. Additionally, the report will assess the number of patients receiving treatment, the overall need for residential and outpatient care, and the accessibility of services for American Indians and Alaska Natives through Indian health programs. A key component involves identifying and proposing solutions for barriers, including technological ones, to real-time reporting of de-identified drug overdose information at all governmental levels.
