Illegal Alien Patient Reporting Act

This bill mandates that hospitals participating in federal healthcare programs collect and report specific patient immigration status information. Hospitals would be required to include a request for immigration status on all admission or intake forms, assuring patients that their response will not impact care or lead to law enforcement reporting, unless they are suspected of certain criminal offenses. Additionally, hospitals must request documentary evidence from patients claiming lawful permanent residence . Hospitals would be required to submit quarterly reports to the Secretaries of Health and Human Services and Homeland Security, detailing the number of patients by various immigration statuses, including citizens, different categories of lawfully present individuals, and those not lawfully present. Non-compliant hospitals would face exclusion from federal healthcare programs. Annually, the Secretary must report to Congress, aggregating this data and providing information on the costs of uncompensated care for individuals not lawfully present in the U.S. and its impact on hospitals, without requiring patient identifying information.
