This bill directs the Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency to engage the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine to conduct a comprehensive assessment. The primary purpose of this engagement is to evaluate the environmental and public health effects stemming from data center operations. This assessment will specifically examine impacts such as noise pollution, air pollution, water consumption and supply, carbon emissions, and electronic waste . Following the assessment, the National Academies are tasked with developing concrete recommendations to mitigate these identified environmental and public health impacts. A detailed report summarizing the assessment findings and proposed recommendations must then be submitted to relevant committees in both the House of Representatives and the Senate within 180 days of the bill's enactment.
