Defending Veterans’ Second Amendment Rights Act

This bill prohibits the Secretary of Veterans Affairs from transmitting certain personally identifiable information of veterans and other beneficiaries to the Department of Justice . This information, if transmitted, would be used by the national instant criminal background check system (NICS) . The prohibition specifically applies when the VA's determination is based solely on a service-connected disability as defined under chapter 11 of title 38, United States Code. The legislation aims to prevent veterans from being reported to NICS for firearm purchase restrictions based exclusively on their service-connected disability status.
