BRACE Act

This bill, titled the BRACE Act, seeks to enhance the recycling and recovery of lithium-ion batteries by updating federal regulations. It specifically addresses the management of end-of-life lithium-ion batteries by modifying universal waste regulations for destination facilities. These facilities, when storing lithium-ion batteries prior to recycling, will now be required to adhere to a combination of specific handling and storage requirements, aligning them with standards for large quantity handlers of universal waste . This aims to streamline and clarify the regulatory framework for safe and efficient battery recycling operations. Furthermore, the bill includes a technical amendment to the Mercury-Containing and Rechargeable Battery Management Act, updating an outdated regulatory citation to refer to the current "part 273 of title 40, Code of Federal Regulations."
