STRONG Act

This bill mandates that the Director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) consider revising the Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) system to establish a separate, detailed occupational code for strength and conditioning coaches . The legislation emphasizes that these professionals possess a unique combination of education, experience, and certification, distinguishing them from other occupations like athletic trainers or physical therapists. Congress finds that strength and conditioning coaches play a crucial role in improving physical performance and minimizing injury risk for athletes, law enforcement, first responders, and military members. The proposed new code would be categorized within the "Healthcare Practitioners and Technical Occupations" group during the first revision of the SOC system following the bill's enactment. This change aims to correct inaccurate representation in the current system and better align it with the specialized work performed by these coaches. Should the OMB Director decide against establishing this separate code, the bill requires a report to be submitted to specific Congressional committees within 30 days, detailing the reasons for that decision. No new funds are authorized for the implementation of this Act.
