VA Coaching into Care Act

This bill mandates the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to establish a three-year pilot program, known as the "VA Coaching into Care Act," within one year of enactment. The program will maintain a toll-free hotline to provide mental and behavioral health support to eligible recipients, including family members, individuals residing with veterans, and friends of veterans. The hotline will be staffed by Department of Veterans Affairs psychologists and social workers, offering advice on how to discuss mental and behavioral health with a veteran and providing referrals to VA or non-VA mental health services. To ensure broad awareness, the Secretary must conduct significant outreach efforts , including providing information to veterans service organizations and other relevant groups, and furnishing promotional materials in Vet Centers and VA medical facilities. The program will also be promoted on the Department's website and through other outreach campaigns. Upon the program's termination, the Secretary is required to submit a comprehensive report to Congress, detailing call statistics, referral types, outreach actions, and recommendations regarding the program's continuation or expansion.
