AI Workforce Impact Study Act of 2026

This legislation mandates the Comptroller General of the United States to undertake a comprehensive study on the effects of artificial intelligence (AI) on the U.S. workforce. The study, covering the period from November 2022 to the bill's enactment, requires a report to Congress within one year. Key aspects of the study include estimating the number and percentage of individuals who have lost jobs or been hired into new jobs due to AI, with data disaggregated by geographic area, industry, occupation, sex, and race. It will also examine how existing jobs are being substantially altered, such as through AI-driven worker monitoring and replacement, and assess the limitations of current federal data collection methods regarding AI's workforce impact.
