VA Education Oversight Improvement Act

This bill significantly expands the oversight authority of the Secretary of Veterans Affairs and State Approving Agencies over educational institutions. Specifically, it extends this oversight to include third-party contractors , broadening the scope to cover their advertising, marketing, recruiting, and enrollment practices. This expanded authority also applies to any location where a course is offered, including those in foreign countries, ensuring comprehensive monitoring of programs for veterans. To ensure accountability, the bill mandates that the Secretary conduct and submit annual assessments to Congress until 2028 regarding the activities of these third-party contractors. These reports will include recommendations for legislative or regulatory actions. Additionally, it authorizes the Secretary's recognition of State Approving Agencies until October 1, 2028 , after which their responsibilities for approving courses would transfer directly to the Secretary of Veterans Affairs.
