REAL Butter Act

This bill, titled the REAL Butter Act , amends the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act to ensure consumer choice by requiring specific labeling for certain butter alternatives. It mandates that any product marketed as butter but containing milkfat synthesized through non-agricultural processes and failing to meet the established standard of identity for butter must be clearly labeled. Such products, defined as "synthesized butter products," or items containing them, must prominently display " lab-created butter " or " contains lab-created butter " on their labels immediately preceding the product name. This amendment aims to provide consumers with transparent information regarding the origin and composition of butter-like products, distinguishing them from traditional butter.
