Water Access Act

This legislation, titled the Water Access Act, proposes to allocate a significant sum to support low-income households. It specifically appropriates $500,000,000 for the Low-Income Household Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP) for fiscal year 2027.

These funds will be directed to the Secretary of Health and Human Services to provide critical financial aid. The program aims to assist eligible households with the costs of water and wastewater services, thereby extending the reach and impact of the existing LIHWAP, which was originally established under the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021.
