Hands Off Elections Act of 2026

This bill seeks to prohibit federal employees from intervening in the administration of federal elections, specifically targeting employees of Executive agencies. It outlines exceptions for participation authorized by existing federal laws, such as the Help America Vote Act or the National Voter Registration Act, or when employees act in a non-official capacity. To ensure compliance, the bill empowers state chief law enforcement officers to bring civil actions for injunctive relief against violations.

Importantly, the legislation clarifies that it does not prevent federal employees from assisting with cybersecurity measures to preserve the integrity of voting systems. The definition of "Executive agency" for this purpose explicitly excludes the U.S. Postal Service.
