Juice Access Improvement Act

This legislation aims to modify the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) by requiring that juice be the default benefit in certain food packages. Specifically, this applies to Food Package IV for children aged 1-4 years, and Food Packages V, VI, and VII for pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding women.

State agencies administering WIC must establish juice as the primary offering for these packages. However, participants retain the option to request a $3 cash-value voucher substitution instead of juice, with this voucher amount subject to annual inflation adjustments. The bill directs the Secretary of Agriculture to revise relevant federal regulations, including 7 CFR 246.10(e)(10), to ensure these new requirements are properly implemented.
