This bill amends the Richard B. Russell National School Lunch Act by establishing a new competitive grant program to improve milk storage in schools. The program authorizes the Secretary of Agriculture to provide funding to eligible entities for acquiring and installing cold storage equipment or milk dispensers in elementary and secondary schools, thereby enhancing the proper storage and availability of milk for students. Eligible entities for these grants include local educational agencies, school food authorities, tribal organizations, or consortia thereof, all of whom must submit an application as required by the Secretary. The federal share for projects funded under this program will not exceed 75 percent of the total cost. To support this initiative, the bill authorizes an appropriation of $4,000,000 for each of fiscal years 2027 through 2031, aiming to significantly upgrade milk storage infrastructure across participating schools.
