Arlington National Cemetery Viewshed Protection Act

This legislation aims to restrict the establishment of triumphal arches within specific areas of the District of Columbia and the capital region, primarily to protect significant viewsheds. It enacts a complete prohibition on the establishment or construction of any triumphal arch within Lady Bird Johnson Park , formerly Columbia Island, regardless of the funding source, and explicitly bars federal funds for such projects there. Furthermore, the Act mandates that any triumphal arch exceeding 50 feet in height on land administered by the National Capital Region Office of the National Park Service must receive express authorization from Congress. This provision ensures legislative oversight for larger monumental structures in other protected areas of the capital region.
